There is one image of Jesus that I can't shake. It's Jesus speaking one five letter word to me over and over. I need to hear this word. It's probably a word you need to hear.
"Peace." (He doesn't use an exclamation mark, because that wouldn't be peaceful.)
Jesus told his disciples, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid." (John 14:27). Later, he tells his disciples how he has overcome the world, just to give them peace (John 16:33). And what was the first thing he told his disciples after he kick death in the throat? "Peace be with you." (John 20:19).
Every reason that you have to worry, Jesus has one word for you, "Peace."
What do you worry about?
I typically don't worry while the lights are on. But when it's time to go to sleep, my doubts awaken. I begin to wonder if enough people read my blog that day. Or I worry that I'm not getting enough speaking opportunities. I start fearing that I'm wasting my time. I wonder if I'm doing enough or doing things right.
That's when I get to see this beautiful image of Jesus telling me "Peace."
Jesus wants you to live in peace. He sent the Holy Spirit just so you could experience it (John 14:27). He overcame the world, so we have nothing to fear as his followers (John 16:33). And he defeated death as proof that we can trust what he says (John 20:19).
Whatever you are worried or stressed out about, it's my prayer that you can experience Jesus telling you "Peace." Tomorrow's post will be unconventional (but practical) things you can do to help you experience Jesus' peace.
Question:
Where are you struggling with stress that you could change a habit to experience peace in your life?
