Sometimes we busy ourselves in hope that the good outweighs the bad to better our position.
Sound familiar?
Unfortunately, often I do things, not out of love for God, but to impress people.
This week I've been busy. Not doing things to impress people or God, but moving. That's why it's Wednesday and this is my first post. I have been busy unpacking boxes and trying create some order. It's necessary.
For the last week, I haven't created any margin to spend time with God. I haven't opened my Bible and I haven't prayed. This morning on my way to get coffee, I tried to pray. I even turned off ESPN radio.
But nothing came.
I felt out of sync with the Spirit.
Was God punishing me for neglecting him? No, I was just a little out of tune with God. This can happen when we fail to be in regular communication with him. Our spiritual eyes and ears are like muscles that weaken when they aren't used.
Be careful not to be so busy (even doing good things) that you miss out on what God wants from you. Which might even be just to spend a little time with you.
Question:
What's the best thing to look busy with for when Jesus comes back?
