What are you doing here?
(Check out yesterday's post: What Are You Doing Here? Part One.)
Elijah ended up in a cave, because he didn't trust God.
However, there are times you find yourself in a cave, because you did trust God.
This makes absolutely no sense.
It isn't fun.
There's nothing glorious on the outside about it.
There's nothing glorious on the outside about it.
It's painful!
And, quite frankly, it sucks!
David ended up in a cave. Not because he didn't trust God, but because he did.
After David was anointed the next king over Israel, he wasn't ushered in with accolades, but rather he was pushed out as a fugitive. Instead of a crown, his anointing came with a pair of Brooks running shoes and spelunking gear.
As a fugitive, he found himself hiding in a cave. His life stunk!
Why?
Because God had taken him somewhere to prepare him for something more...something big. Something that he wasn't ready or strong enough to accomplish yet.
Had David not spent time in a cave, then he would have missed out on what God had planned for him. A plan that included Jesus as a part of his legacy. It was partly David's DNA that was hung on the cross. It doesn't get any bigger than that!
Have you ever been in a cave before? (A literal one.)
I live in cave country. Mammoth Cave National Park is ten miles down the road from me.
A cold, damp hole in the ground isn't an ideal location to spend much time in besides on a cave tour.

Not much grows in a cave and everything that lives there is spooky as heck (like bats and eyeless fish).
It's under these circumstances that God is testing and strengthen you. God makes things grow where nothing else can. When you find yourself in a situation that isn't ideal for growth, God is preparing you for something.

Are you in a cave, because you trusted God?
Did God lead you to unfavorable conditions where it seems as though nothing could grow?
If you are there because you trusted God, then what is God preparing you for?
Question:
What is God preparing you for? Or how has God prepared you in a cave in the past?
It would be awesome if you shared on this page to encourage one another, because it's difficult being in a cave that God has taken you to.
