This is more of a Monday post, but let's shake things up a little.
Does life ever get to you? Sure it does!
Life has gotten to me this week.
It's been stressful at work. I'm a fourth grade teacher. I get to work with and for some of the most amazing people on this planet. It's a great and fulfilling job, but it comes with a lot of stress. (As your job probably does.)
Then my four year old daughter caught a stomach bug. That bug crawled out of the flames found in the depths of hell.
Finally, working on the Gravy, along with a new writing project has left me emotionally spent. (Not in a bad way.)
This morning when I tried to pray I couldn't. I was too distracted with everything going on. Thoughts of the good, the bad, and the ugly kept interrupting. So I tried to pray for them, but I still couldn't. I became so distracted with thoughts of failure that I was unable to pray.
Frustration had set in and began rooting itself.
I like to pray on my knees. This normally helps me focus and posture matters.
At the height of my frustration, I looked over at my book shelve and a binding caught my eye.
It was a book that my college roommate gave to Lacey and me years ago. The book is Teachers Living a Life to Inspire God's Way. It's a collection of inspiring stories.
At first I missed the opportunity and tried to pray again. But prayer isn't just about speaking, it's about listening.
So I did a ninja crawl (that's right a ninja crawl) to the book and opened it up to the first story. My eyes were drawn to the scripture on the first page:
Anything is possible if you have faith (Mark 9:23 TLB).
Needless to say, I got the point.
Christian when you get frustrated about life, remember Jesus' words to those who believe in him: Anything is possible if you have faith.
