Even Bullets Can't Get Through Leviticus

Did you see where The Message saved a bus driver's life in Ohio?

Literally.

Not like he read a story about Jesus and repented. Rather, someone shot him and the book stopped the bullets. Talk about the power of God's word next to a man's heart! (Sorry, bad joke.)

Actually, the men and the bullets learned what every Christian knows. No one can get through Leviticus that quickly. (Sorry, another bad joke, but I've been off for a few weeks.)

The news report didn't say it, but something like the "spirit of the Lord" fell on the guy. After being shot twice in the chest, once in the leg, and stabbed in the arm. He took on the three men with a what? An ink pen and took the gun from them.

This guy's friends should start calling him "Samson." Or at least that's what I would call him.

It is a remarkable story!

Personally, I don't like The Message. Nothing against Eugene Peterson. The translation just doesn't do it for me. However, my wife keeps a copy by her side of the bed. And now I know why. Just in case she needs some protection.

Do you like The Message?
