The Tim Tebow Effect

Google Tim Tebow.

Over 47,000,000 hits in 0.22 seconds. Impressive?

Read a couple of those. Possibly you hit this blog searching Tim Tebow. Some of those links are malicious and slanderous about a man who gets paid to throw a football (or in his case, to run one). I have no clue how throwing a football proves sexual preference? Others are so in love with Tebow that they believe we are in the middle of the rapture and Tebow has come to take us all home. If you search his name on Facebook, it's the same story. Tebow unites people whether it's for or against him. It is almost 50/50 love verses hate. He is so popular that after his win last night it took me nearly two hours to be able to log onto his official website.

Whether you love him or hate him, there is something special about him. One commentator on ESPN said that Tebow proves everyone right. There is almost a paradox about him.

The man embodies something special. It has nothing to do with his football skills or his Christian witness. Tebow has ability to have everyone talking. This is something that every Christian should embody. The ability to have others talking.

Christian, do you live your life for Christ in a way that has everyone talking?

If not, possibly your life is on the brink of irrelevance?

The most talked about quarterback in the NFL right now doesn't have impressive stats, he hasn't won the most games, and some believe he can't even throw a football. Tebow has been the talk of the NFL season from day one. There are those who are much better like Rodgers for Greenbay who has yet to lose a game. There are those who are worse like the Colts quarterback Painter who hasn't won one. But who has everyone been talking about? Tebow.

I realize my question has some of your skin crawling right now. Christian, do you not know that God has planned great things for you? Jesus told his disciples this. He said that they were going to do greater works than he did.  Impressive! Do you think that had people talking? It had everyone talking. Don't believe me? Read through Acts. The early church had everyone talking.

Christian, if no one is talking about you, then you might be on the brink of irrelevance. Yes we are supposed to live quiet and peaceful lives, but your life should speak volumes to others. Church leaders, if your church is dying this might be why. Your church is full of Christians who are living lives of irrelevance when Christ has called them to so much more.

Some of you are irritated with me right now because that places a whole lot of emphasis on the Christian and not on Christ. However, if you are living like Jesus said to live, then he is getting the glory for it and not you. It's pretty simple. Christians who live their life like Jesus taught will have people talking one way or another.

Question:
Do you live your life for Christ in a way that has everyone talking?
