Rewind to Melito
Melito of Sardis wrote those words nearly 2,000 years ago. His words have me feeling like a worship pastor in a hat store--overwhelmed.
His words bothered me so much that I grabbed a Moleskin and jotted them down. That's right, I said Moleskin. Why? Because a Moleskin is so much hipper than a Five Star notebook. What am I like in seventh grade? And I got a stinking sweet deal on them!
Melito was a Church Father from...you guessed it...Sardis. He wrote those words to a Jewish audience who missed out on who Jesus is. They missed it that he is God. Their not-so-distant relatives had a hand in murdering the one that they had waited on for hundreds of years.
What a tragedy!
To be so close to the Savior and Creator, but yet to have missed him.
It's funny how old words are just as powerful as new ones.
Question:
Can you fathom that the Creator was hung by his creation?
