Do you like Monday mornings?
For most people, Monday mornings are dreadful, because they are suffering from a Sunday Hangover. This is a problem plaguing Christians and non-Christians alike.
The Sunday Hangover is not from drinking too much alcohol on Sunday. Rather, it is the exhausted feeling that one has on Monday morning after having the previous day off.
For the churchgoer that includes going to church in the morning, Cracker Barrel for lunch, a nap, and then finishing the day in front of the telly. Telly is the classy way that the Brits say television. It gets boring to say television or TV and I wasn't sure if it was appropriate to say boob tube on a semi-religious blog.
For the non-churchgoer, Sunday includes much of the same minus the going to church part.
Surprisingly, it doesn't appear that a lot separates a believer and a nonbeliever on Sunday.
You wake up on Monday morning exhausted.
The first loved one in your life to know that you are suffering a Sunday Hangover is your snooze button. You don't want to go to work. You're much
more motivated to stay home and hang out with Matt Lauer. That Matt
Lauer and his wizardry.
After having a glorious day off, how do we start off the workweek?
Sluggish and not wanting to participate with society.
Christian, it's crazy for you not to be excited about Monday morning. (Don't worry I have to keep telling myself this too.)
It's ridiculous to let the Sunday Hangover get the best of you.
It isn't our participation in church on Sunday morning that separates us from nonbelievers.
What separates us from nonbelievers should be how we live on Monday and throughout the week. Monday morning provides us with the opportunity to live out the experience we had on Sunday. Sunday is awesome, but the rest of the week should be even better. That's when we get to take this love that transforms us and share it to our family, friends, and enemies.
Don't let a Sunday Hangover mess up what should be your most influential day of the week.
Question:
Has the Sunday Hangover ever gotten you?
