Duck Dynasty vs. The Bible

Do you watch Duck Dynasty?

What a stupid question? Of course you do! Every good and righteous Christian watches it. Jesus even Tivos that one.

That's why it comes on at 9:00 on Wednesday nights. That gives you just enough time to come home from church, get settled with a glass of sweet tea, and turn on the tube.

I'm sure there are some critics out there, but I haven't heard anyone say anything negative about the show. Why? Perhaps because it shares many Christian values. Maybe because we love redneck humor. Or maybe because everyone has a crazy Uncle Si.

However, surprisingly a show that has received mixed reviews among Christians has been The Bible.

The mini-series comes on Sunday nights. The main night that Christians are supposed to get their holy on. I have only watched short segments of it.
 
There are a few things that are distracting about the series. Like, why do most of the characters sound like they stole a leprechaun's Lucky Charms? Don't they know that all Bible characters were American? Or at least the good guys were anyways.

Why are the men on Duck Dynasty beards more biblical looking than the men on The Bible? It's like the producers didn't even read Leviticus. Speaking of which, why didn't Leviticus get any screen time?

Also, did you see the opening scene for the first show? That's right, Noah and the Ark. Noah and the Ark reigns supreme on paper and on the screen when introducing the Bible.

My father-in-law described the show perfectly as "nothing more than everything you learned in Sunday School." Only minus the felt board.

Sunday School teachers and youth leaders should be recording the series, because in two episodes there has been enough to keep people busy for a month. And kindergarteners through goldenaires will enjoy seeing all that biblical violence.

These two shows beg for one question to be answer. Which show do Christians enjoy more Duck Dynasty or The Bible?

Watching The Bible gives you two hours credit for reading the Bible, if you pray during commercials. If you will pray with the Robertson at the end that counts for Sunday School or small groups. It's really a toss up.
