Lip Syncing Christians

What do you think of when you hear the names Brittney, Beyoncé, Madonna, and Mariah? Better yet, what comes to mind when you hear the duo, Milli Vanilli?

All these uber stars have been caught lip syncing.

But you can't judge them. You should only sympathize.

These artists have only gotten caught doing what a lot of Christians do every single Sunday.

After years of claiming territory in the back of the church on the corners, I'm starting to rethink my Sunday position after I noticed something.

There's a grace period during the first two songs that people come in late. It's like this in almost every single church. My preferred pew is a high traffic area. I sing until someone comes near me and then I go solo style--that's so low you can't hear me. I go all Milli Vanilli up in the service.

Or how about when the ushers come by to take up the offering? Yep, it's time for lip syncing, round #2. I just keep those lips moving knowing good and well no sound is coming out.

You are thinking one of two things right now:

1) I do that, too!

2) Or you're thinking, "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord." Or, "You shouldn't worry about what others think. You are worshiping God." Both sound arguments.

Maybe the number twos have a point. But every parent knows how joyful no noise can be at times. And maybe I worry about what God thinks of me, so I don't sing for his sake. (Probably not the case.)

Just wondering, are there any other lip syncers out there?
