Start Complaining?

Everyone knows that nobody likes a complainer. And that there's no crying in baseball. But what about God? Does he like the complainers?

Do you ever complain to God?

I do.

I will totally unleash on him. Guilt ensues. This feeling is followed by an apology and a theologically correct way to pray "just sayin'" is thrown in there ("not my will, but your will be done").

Frustration has set in on my life lately. (Hence the drop in posts.) It's difficult for me to write when I'm frustrated. When things are going my way the words flow freely. But lately inspiration and creativity can't find their way through the fog of my frustration.

So I find myself frustrated. And just when I think I've moved on, the frustration comes back. So I complain to God.

Is it okay to complain to God?

I've been reading the Bible chronologically. (Just in case you didn't know, the Bible isn't organized as the events happened.) If you have never read the Bible this way, you should.

Things get really interesting when you hit the life of David.

When reading about events in David's life and then reading a Psalm he wrote for that time, it provides perspective.

Something noticable is that David complained...a lot.

More than a middle school girl at the lunch table eating a soy burger and baked french fries.

Okay, maybe, not that much.

But he complained a lot and with good reason.

However, when David complained out of his frustration, he knew who he was talking to. He wasn't lashing out at God, but rather to God. He knew and trusted that God was good and would take care of him.

God wants to hear from us.

He wants to be in constant communication. I think he even wants us to complain to him sometimes, because there are times we feel frustrated. How can he help us get through the frustration, if we don't talk with him?

What do you think, is it okay to complain to God?
