Let's Try This Again

This is my favorite image of 2013. It was captured back in the Spring.

My oldest daughter, Ellie Grace, is trying to help her little sister fall asleep. [Insert an awww here.] A few moments later, Chloe drifted off and the doctor placed the fourth set of tubes into her little ears. (Three weeks later, one had already fallen out.)

This morning, we are traveling to Louisville, because a cyst has grown where the tube was. More than likely it isn't anything serious. But, yet, we both are struggling with it, because it's something else gone wrong with her young ears.

I realize tubes and the removal of tonsils and adenoids aren't a big deal. Yes, we are blessed with two healthy girls. But, when it's your kid continually going through something, it is a big deal to you. And so we are frustrated.

Chloe's ear problems have been a reminder that things don't always work out the way we want them to even though God is in charge. That's life. That's a lesson you have learned before.

We let our circumstances dictate what we believe about God. Too often we make faith about God making us healthy, alleviating pain, or giving us what we want. God does love you, but faith has little to do with those things if anything at all.  Faith is what you believe about Jesus and living that out.

Things don't always go the way we want them to, but that doesn't change who Jesus is.
