Photographs

My wife got a 100 free pictures from Shutterfly recently.

That's a lot of pictures.

But that isn't anywhere close to what we need to get developed. (Between the two of us on our phones and on "iCloud", we are somewhere in the 3,000 to 4,000 range.)

That's ridiculous!

People take more pictures than ever because of the convenience of their phones, but they don't do anything with them.

Correction: we post them on Twitter, Facebook, or on Instagram because we like to get share our lives (and selfies) and are junkies for "likes". But within two or three hours (48 hours tops) people are finished caring about your latest post and are on to more boring monotonous things.

It's almost as if the prophetic words of Def Leppard came true:

Photograph - I don't want your
Photograph - I don't need your
Photograph - All I've got is a photograph
But it's not enough

So we quit caring about photographs all together. The convenience of technology hasn't helped to surround us with memories since we have to flip screens to find them.

My wife is pretty cool. Not only does she call me her "Sexy Man of God," but she rewards with me showing me that she cares.

She printed some of those 100 pictures just for me- a favorite picture of my girls, my surprise 30th birthday party, a picture with my brother and his boys, to name a few.

Why?

Because, like I said, I'm her Sexy Man of God; but also because she understands the power of a photograph.

She always has.

Once I had an unbelievable opportunity to meet with two prominent pastors with a few men. Before I even got home from the trip, she had pulled a picture of us all together that had been posted on Facebook, had it printed, framed, and sitting on my bedside table. The picture sits on my desks and is still one of the most encouraging reminders of what God can do.

There's power in a picture.

A picture says a thousand words.

A picture can play an important role in reminding us--something God commands a lot throughout his Word. God loves it when we remember the good things he has done for us. That is a part of worship.

Take time to not only snap a picture and post them on social media, but have them developed and surround your life with them. Put them on your desk at work and the walls and counters in your home.

It is amazing how when you have pictures laying around of good memories and all the people you love, you are able to remember what God has done for you. This increases your faith, trust, and your gratitude to God.

It is one of the most refreshing things you can do for your soul.

Do you have your pictures developed?
