Skipping Over the Best Tweets and Posts

I'm constantly skipping over the best Facebook updates and Twitter tweets.

Chances are you do too.

You have a split second to grab my attention.

You can do it with a picture of pig cuddling a cow.

You can rant about something rant worthy like ObamaCare. These eyes will read it with delight and you'll get an "Amen!".

An argument between UK and Louisville fans over basketball always does something for my soul.

Post something funny, something tragic, or something interesting and I'll read it.

But post this and more than likely it's going to be skimmed over at best. In fact, a lot of Christians do the same.

What is it?

Scripture.

Why do we skip over scripture posts?

I have no clue.

Honestly, scripture posts are the best. How could man's words be any better than God's? They aren't!

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart (Hebrews 4:12).

Let's see our words do that.

They can't!

Scripture posts doesn't cease to be the word of God just because it was posted on social media. (By the way, did you just read that scripture or did you skim through it?)

From time to time I even tweet out scripture. For the same reason that you probably have. Because the word of God did something inside of me and I wanted to share it. But then when someone else does it, I just skim or skip it.

Even when people I love or have a high respect for post or tweet out scripture, it's like I judge their original words to be better and more interesting than God's.

Scripture tweets and posts should be read, retweeted, liked, shared, favorited, and commented on. When so much of what is on social media is junk, we should stop and read something eternal and from God.

Hopefully, just a few of us Christians skip the best tweets and posts.

What about you? Do you read scripture posts? Skim them? Or skip them?
