Frozen Fever & Faith

Are you excited about Frozen Fever?

Or are you to the point of throwing up at the next Frozen reference? Like, you think it's time to...let it go?

It's berserk to think how excited Frozen fans are about this movie coming out on March 13th. Of course, I have two girls who love Frozen and I love Disney so numerous people have stopped and asked me about it.

Many people don't realize that it is a short playing before the new live action Cinderella. (Which by the way I am stoked about!)

Frozen Fever is super short at only seven minutes long (forty seconds of which have already been shown on the sneak peak). What will be interesting is how many families go and watch the 112 minute feature film because they wanted to see the seven minute Frozen Fever.

I love Disney shorts; I've blogged about one before (It All Started with a Mouse). But there is something we can learn from Disney here.

A short put Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse on the map (although, Mickey had already appeared before). Steamboat Willie sits in my study as more than just decoration, but as inspiration. Steamboat Willie was a short that played before a movie that no one remembers. Can you tell me without Googling it? No, you can't! But Steamboat Willie was a seven minute short, before a feature film, that then changed the future of the entertainment industry.

What is genius about this is Disney returning to their roots. Walt would be proud. They are returning to what made them taste success in the first place. And there are a bunch of people who will feverishly go to the theaters because of it. Frozen Fever is a very appropriate name! We are getting a seven minute movie with a G rating before a highly anticipated feature film and we are losing our minds because of it!

So what's the take away for you?

Sometimes when your faith has grown stagnate, it's important to look back at the things you used to do. The things that made you successful and helped you to grow in your faith. The things that brought you closer to Jesus. Those things are the spiritual disciplines.

Maybe you aren't spending time daily in the word.

Maybe you have quit going to church or ceased to give generously.

Maybe you have stopped having spirit-filled conversations with someone who sharpens you--maybe you need to pick up the phone.

Maybe you need to forgive someone.

Maybe you don't pray much anymore or it could be you haven't fasted in a while.

This has been true for me recently. For me, it was as simple as pushing a button in the car. I got away from listening to Christian radio (not that it's a sin to listen to other music). The push of a button has rejuvenated my faith. I can't get enough of Way-FM out of Nashville lately.

Maybe, just maybe, you're in a spiritual funk and you need to fill a void you are feeling.

You should learn a lesson and be like Disney. Look back to what made successful in the first place.

So are you going to see Frozen Fever?
